My thoughts on Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo | A spoiler-free book review.

Ketterdam, a bustling place known for its international trade where anything can be achieved by those who know how to take it. And who knows that better than criminal prodigy, Kaz Brekker. When Kaz is offered an opportunity that could get him wealth beyond his imagination, he isn’t aware of all that could follow the outrageously dangerous heist that he’ll have to pull off to claim it.
He’s smart enough to know that he can’t do it alone. But will each, from the gang that he selects, stay with him till the end?

Six misfits. A Thief, A Spy, A Sharpshooter, A Heartrender, A Convict with a deadly thirst for revenge and A Runaway desperate enough for answers. One Impossible Heist.

Will they pull it off? Will they survive?

I’m a newbie to the Fantasy Genre. I haven’t read many books from it and I barely make an effort to explore. But the hype around this book really got to me, and I’m glad that it did.

It took me a few chapters to really get into this book. Because the story takes place in an alternative universe, it takes time to get used to the surroundings. It’s like travelling to a new country you’ve never even heard or read about before. And I really enjoyed the experience.

For some reason, I usually worry that a Fantasy book might get a little too kiddish and weird. I almost always thought that no one could pull it off apart from Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. But I’m glad to have been proved wrong.
Leigh Bardugo’s writing style is great! It’s easy and it just flows. Also, I think it’s safe to say that even though it’s YA Fantasy it can be enjoyed by adults who love this genre.

Leigh Bardugo has had a trilogy before this and it’s said that six of crows is an expansion to the Grisha Universe from the former. However, I didn’t read any of her former books and was completely new to the Grisha Universe despite which I didn’t feel lost at all.

I gave this book 5/5 onย Goodreadsย and I highly recommend it!

I’d love to discuss this with you if you’ve read it! Would also love to know if you’re planning to read it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

See you soon!
